THE STORY
In June 1980, the Boston Celtics traded the first and thirteenth picks in the NBA Draft to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for center Robert Parish and the third overall pick. Golden State used the first pick to select Joe Barry Carroll, while Boston used the third pick to select Kevin McHale. Parish and McHale went on to become central pieces of Boston's championship teams alongside Larry Bird.
