THE STORY
During Leg 7 of the 2014–2015 Volvo Ocean Race, held from Newport, USA, to Lisbon, Portugal, three teams—Team SCA, Dongfeng Race Team, and MAPFRE—were penalized for sailing the wrong way in Traffic Separation Schemes. Additionally, Team SCA received an extra penalty point for entering an exclusion zone. These penalties affected the teams' overall standings in the race.
