THE STORY
On April 30, 1986, during Game 7 of the Smythe Division Finals between the Edmonton Oilers and the Calgary Flames, Oilers defenseman Steve Smith attempted to clear the puck from behind his net. The puck struck goaltender Grant Fuhr's leg and deflected into the net, resulting in a 3-2 victory for the Flames and eliminating the Oilers from the playoffs. (latimes.com)
