On October 14, 2003, during Game 6 of the National League Championship Series at Wrigley Field, Cubs fan Steve Bartman deflected a foul ball away from left fielder Moisés Alou with the Cubs leading 3-0 in the eighth inning. The Marlins then scored eight runs that inning and won 8-3. The Cubs lost Game 7 the next day, eliminating them from the postseason.
