In 2010, former heavyweight champion Shannon Briggs engaged in a series of confrontations with WBC titleholder Vitali Klitschko, including gate-crashing press conferences and training sessions, to provoke a title bout. Despite these efforts, Briggs lost to Vitali's brother, Wladimir Klitschko, in a unanimous decision on October 16, 2010, in Hamburg, Germany, with scores of 120–107, 120–107, and 120–105.
