THE STORY
In Game 5 of the 2015 World Series at Citi Field, Kansas City Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer scored from third base in the ninth inning on a ground ball to third baseman David Wright. Despite Wright's throw to first for the second out, Hosmer slid home safely, tying the game 2-2. The Royals went on to win 7-2 in 12 innings, securing their first World Series title since 1985.
