During the 2007 Rolex Middle Sea Race, the fleet encountered severe weather conditions, including 35-knot winds and heavy seas. This led to multiple retirements and a dramatic rescue of the yacht Loki, which lost its rudder and required evacuation by helicopter. (sailing.org)
