On January 4, 2007, during a game between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers, Stars forward Patrik Stefan missed an empty net with seconds remaining, allowing Oilers forward Ales Hemsky to score and tie the game. The Stars eventually won 6-5 in a shootout. This incident remains one of the most infamous plays in NHL history.
