THE STORY
On May 29, 2002, during Game 6 of the NHL Western Conference Finals between the Colorado Avalanche and the Detroit Red Wings, Avalanche goaltender Patrick Roy attempted to showcase a glove save by raising his glove hand high. However, he inadvertently dropped the puck behind him, allowing Red Wings forward Brendan Shanahan to score. This blunder contributed to the Avalanche's 2-0 loss, forcing a decisive Game 7 in the series.
