THE STORY
In the 2010 FIFA World Cup quarter-final between Uruguay and Ghana, held on July 2, 2010, at Soccer City in Johannesburg, Uruguay's Luis Suárez deliberately handled a goal-bound header from Ghana's Dominic Adiyiah in the final minute of extra time. Suárez was red-carded for the offense, and Ghana was awarded a penalty kick. Asamoah Gyan's ensuing penalty struck the crossbar, and Uruguay advanced after a penalty shootout.
