THE STORY
In November 2020, during the Vendée Globe solo sailing race, Kevin Escoffier's boat, PRB, broke in half in the Southern Ocean, forcing him to abandon ship. Fellow competitor Jean Le Cam diverted his course to rescue Escoffier, successfully bringing him aboard after a challenging operation. The International Jury awarded Le Cam a time compensation of 16 hours and 15 minutes for his efforts. (imoca.org)
