On November 23, 2001, at New York's Roseland Ballroom, James "The Harlem Hammer" Butler faced Richard Grant in a 10-round bout. After Grant won by unanimous decision, Butler unexpectedly punched Grant, causing a dislocated jaw and lacerated tongue. Butler was arrested and later convicted of assault, serving four months in Rikers Island.
