In June 2000, the New York Islanders traded promising young goaltender Roberto Luongo and center Olli Jokinen to the Florida Panthers for forwards Mark Parrish and Oleg Kvasha. Luongo went on to become one of the NHL's top goalies, while the Islanders' goaltending situation remained inconsistent.
