On September 10, 1978, during an NFL game between the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers, the Raiders' quarterback, Ken Stabler, fumbled the ball forward, and it was recovered in the end zone by tight end Dave Casper, resulting in a touchdown. The play was controversial due to its unconventional nature, leading to a rule change prohibiting forward fumbles in the end zone. The Raiders won the game 21-20, securing a spot in the playoffs.
