In February 2022, during a doping test at the ATP Challenger tournament in Rio de Janeiro, Spain's Fernando Verdasco tested positive for methylphenidate, a medication prescribed for his attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). He had inadvertently failed to renew his Therapeutic Use Exemption (TUE) for the drug, leading to a two-month suspension from professional tennis, effective until January 8, 2023.
