THE STORY
In Game 6 of the 1985 World Series, the Cardinals led the Royals 1–0 in the ninth inning. Pinch-hitter Jorge Orta hit a ground ball; umpire Don Denkinger called him safe at first despite replays showing he was out. The Royals then scored two runs to win 2–1, forcing Game 7, which they won 11–0 to claim their first World Series title.
