THE STORY
On July 2, 2008, the Dallas Stars signed forward Sean Avery to a four-year, $15.5 million contract. In December 2008, Avery was suspended for six games by the NHL for making controversial remarks about other players dating his ex-girlfriends. Following the suspension, the Stars placed Avery on waivers on February 7, 2009.
