THE STORY
In the 2016 American League Wild Card game on October 4, the Baltimore Orioles faced the Toronto Blue Jays in Toronto. Orioles manager Buck Showalter chose not to use closer Zach Britton, who had converted all 47 of his save opportunities during the regular season, in the late innings. The game extended into the 11th inning, where Ubaldo Jiménez allowed a walk-off home run to Edwin Encarnación, resulting in a 5-2 loss for the Orioles and ending their season.
