THE STORY
In the 1919 World Series, eight Chicago White Sox players were accused of conspiring with gamblers to intentionally lose the series to the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds won the best-of-nine series 5–3. Following a grand jury investigation, all eight players were permanently banned from professional baseball.
