THE STORY

At the 1988 Seoul Olympics, Canadian sprinter Ben Johnson won the 100-meter final with a world-record time of 9.79 seconds. Post-race testing revealed traces of the anabolic steroid stanozolol in his urine. Consequently, Johnson was stripped of his gold medal, and his world record was annulled. The gold medal was subsequently awarded to American sprinter Carl Lewis.
