THE STORY
In March 2014, the Houston Astros released outfielder J.D. Martinez after he struggled offensively during spring training, batting.167 with one RBI in 18 at-bats. Shortly after his release, Martinez signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers, where he became a two-time All-Star and won a Silver Slugger award.
