THE STORY

On May 9, 2013, during a training session in San Francisco Bay, Artemis Racing's AC72 catamaran capsized, leading to the death of British Olympic gold medalist Andrew "Bart" Simpson. Simpson, 36, was trapped underwater for approximately 10 minutes before being rescued; despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The incident occurred around 1 p.m. near Treasure Island. The other crew member aboard sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
