In August 2009, during a UEFA Champions League qualifying match between Arsenal and Celtic at Emirates Stadium, Arsenal's Eduardo da Silva was awarded a penalty after a challenge by Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc. UEFA later charged Eduardo with 'deceiving the referee' by diving, resulting in a two-match suspension. Arsenal appealed, and the ban was overturned, allowing Eduardo to play in the group stage.
