On May 18, 2006, during the seventh leg of the Volvo Ocean Race from New York to Portsmouth, Dutch sailor Hans Horrevoets was swept overboard from the ABN AMRO TWO yacht. Despite immediate rescue efforts, he was pronounced dead after unsuccessful resuscitation attempts. (latimes.com)
