THE STORY
In Game 3 of the 2001 ALDS, the Oakland Athletics faced the New York Yankees. In the seventh inning with the Yankees leading 1-0, Jeremy Giambi tried to score from first on Terrence Long's double. Shane Spencer's throw missed the cutoff, but Derek Jeter intercepted near first base and relayed to catcher Jorge Posada, who tagged Giambi out at home. Giambi did not slide on the play.
